The MMS Story
Elva Roy, Lead Ambassador for Ambassadors for Aging, is always looking for ways to enable those who are aging to live productive, active and valuable lives. When she discovered the Giving Voice Chorus in Minneapolis, she thought that Arlington and the Metroplex deserved to have one too. In July of 2017, a small group of dedicated volunteers gathered to organize a "singing opportunity" for those with mild to intermediate Alzheimer's and/or Dementia and their care partners. The group would provide an opportunity for volunteers from the community and students from the University of Texas at Arlington to get involved. Gradually the group established a Board of Directors, gained 501(c)3 status, added two Directors and a Pianist. On October 5, 2017, MMS held its first rehearsal in the Pantego Lions Club Community Center in Pantego, Texas.
